Jon Usher received his Bachelors and Masters degrees in Clarinet Performance on scholarship from the University of Redlands. In addition to serving as clarinet instructor for Cal State San Bernardino, he instructs woodwind methods classes, elementary and secondary music education courses and the “Music for Educators” series of classes for prospective teachers.
Mr. Usher has performed often with the Music Department at Cal State and performs regularly as a free lance orchestral clarinetist in the Inland Empire area. In 2002, with the help of Dr. Carlisle and Mrs. Maldonado, Mr. Usher appeared as a featured soloist at the West Coast Clarinet Congress. In addition, he is called upon frequently to serve as an adjudicator and clinician in the field of woodwind performance.
Mr. Usher was awarded a Fellowship from Claremont Graduate University where he is currently finishing his Doctorate in Clarinet. Mr. Usher studies with David Howard of the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra.
