Dr. Nancy L. Glen is currently in her third year as a Lecturer in Music at California State University San Bernardino. Her responsibilities include teaching Music Education courses, maintaining French Horn studio lessons, and directing the CSUSB Horn Choir and Brass Ensemble. She also teaches for the College of Extended Learning at CSUSB.
Dr. Glen has had over twenty-five years experience teaching in public school systems in Ohio, Michigan, and Colorado in both general classroom and Music Education. Feeling a strong desire to pass on her successful experiences in education to a new generation of teachers, she pursued graduate degrees leading to a second career in higher education. In addition to CSUSB, she has taught Music Education classes at both the undergraduate and graduate levels at St. Clair County Community College in Port Huron, Michigan, and University of Northern Colorado in Greeley.
Music is her passion. Pursuant to this, she works diligently with her pre-service teaching students to help them understand the importance of integrating music into their general classroom teaching, and encourages music education majors to realize the importance of elementary general music education as the foundation of all future applied music instruction. She is certified in the Orff-Schulwerk Approach to Music Education, and serves on the Board of Directors for the Inland County Chapter of the Association of Orff-Schulwerk of America. Her writings have appeared in Music Educators Journal, Colorado Music Educators Association Journal, Teaching Music Journal, and The Orff Echo Journal.
