A native of Canada, Soprano Dr. Stacey Fraser has appeared
as a soloist at the San Diego Opera, the Tony Award winning La Jolla Play house, San Diego Dance Theater, La Jolla Symphony, Vancouver Symphony, Banff Centre for the Arts and Tanglewood. She holds a Doctorate in vocal performance from University of California, San Diego, Master of Music in vocal performance from Manhattan School of Music and a Bachelor of Music in voice performance from the University of Toronto. Performances include the Erste Knaben in Die Zauberflote for San Diego Opera, the role of the Opera Singer in Paris Commune for La Jolla Playhouse, Pamina in Magic Flute, Despina in Cosi fan Tutte for the San Diego Opera Ensemble, First Handmaiden in Turandot for San Diego Opera and Eve in Haydn’s Creation for La Jolla Symphony and Chorus. She has held teaching positions at Northern State University in South Dakota, the University of California, San Diego and the British Columbia Conservatory of Music in Vancouver, Canada.

Dr. Fraser has received critical acclaim from The New York Times for her rendition of Berio’s Sequenza III and the role of the Honorable Lady in Maurice O’Hana’s opera Trois Contes de L’Honorable Fleur. She has also received critical acclaim from the San Diego Union Tribune and La Jolla Village News for her performances in both standard operatic and contemporary repertoire.

Recent engagements have included the premiere of Koji Nakano’s new chamber work Time Song II: Howling through time at the Asia Society in New York, and a lecture/recital of the work at the Music of Japan Today Symposium at the University of Maryland, Baltimore. This past summer Dr. Fraser was awarded a South Dakota Arts Council Grant that funded a recital tour of French and American Music in the Czech Republic. She was also a featured artist for the 2007 Americké Jaro Festival in Prednasek, Czech Republic. Recent and upcoming engagements include the role of Miss Silverpeal in Mozart’s Impresario with the South Dakota Symphony as well as a lecture/recital for the 2008 College Music Society 50th National Conference in Salt Lake City. Dr. Fraser is a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing, Actors Equity Association and the American Guild of American Artists.
