CSUSB CHAMBER SINGERS PERFORM FOR TOUR TO ITALY
The Cal State, San Bernardino Chamber Singers will perform at the Big Bear Performing Arts Center to raise money for their 10 day tour to Italy.
The California State University, San Bernardino Chamber Singers, directed by Dr. Andrew Crane, are the elite choral ensemble on campus. Consisting of 30 singers, both music majors and non-majors, the Chamber Singers frequently represent the university in invited performances throught the Inland Empire.
This June, the choir will embark on an 10-day tour to Italy, where they will sing in some of the most historical and acoustically thrilling cathedrals in the world. While in Italy, the Chamber Singers will also take part in a festival performance of Carl Orff's Carmina Burana, accompanied by a professional Italian orchestra.
All proceeds from the concert on May 3rd will go to help make this trip possible.
Featured on the concert will be choral music of varying styles, from Renaissance motets to contemporary selections to arrangements of African-American spirituals. You will not want to miss this exciting evening of professional-level choral singing.

CAL-STATE, SAN BERNARDINO CONTINUES FREE “MUSIC TUESDAYS” SERIES WITH FACULTY TEASER RECITAL, MOUNTAIN FIFES AND CELLO/PIANO DUO
This Spring quarter, the Cal-State San Bernardino Music Department will hold three free noon performance as part of their Music Tuesdays series.
San Bernardino, Ca April 3, 2008 -- This quarter Cal-State has invited a variety of performers to participate in its new Music Tuesdays Series. Music Department faculty will join together to preview the much anticipated annual Arthurt Moorfield Memorial Recital on April 22. The Mountain Fifes and Drums Corps will perform on May 6 and Michelle and Michael Tacchia (cello/piano duo) are scheduled to perform on June 3. Like all Music Tuesdays concerts, all three performances will take place at noon in the CSUSB Performing Arts Recital Hall. Admission is free.
This Spring quarter, Cal State’s own faculty will join together to perform the well-known yet unconventional Façade by William Walton, a piece for small ensemble and narration at the annual Arthurt Moorefield Memorial Recital on May 7. The performers will also be playing a variety of other selections for the night, including a piece by local Japanese composer Koji Nakano. A preview of these pieces can be heard for free at the first Music Tuesdays concert of the quarter.
The Mountain Fifes and Drums Corps is a unique group whose goal is to replicate the historic Fifes and Drums Corps of Colonial Williamsburg. The Corps plays 18th and 19th century war songs while dressed in traditional style Revolutionary War uniforms. Ages of the disciplined players range from 10 to 18.
Cal State is also proud to welcome back seasoned performers Michelle and Michael Tacchia to perform. The cello/piano duo have been performing together since 1972 and have been noted for their ability to produce rich tones, convey beautiful melodic expression and play as one.

CSUSB BANDS PREMIERE NEW WORK IN THE LAST BAND CONCERT OF THE YEAR
The winners of the 1st Annual Cal State University, San Bernardino Music Concerto/Composition Competition will be featured in this quarter's CSUSB Bands concert.
San Bernardino, Ca May 9, 2008 -- An advocate of new music, CSUSB Bands director, Dr Jeffrey Boeckman, is trying something new this quarter. As a result of holding a student concerto/composition competition at the beginning of the year, two CSUSB students have been chosen to be featured in the last CSUSB Symphonic Band and Chamber Winds concert of the quarter. The concert will be held on Friday, June 6 at 7:30 p.m. in the Performing Arts Recital Hall at Cal State University, San Bernardino. Tickets are: $5 Students/$8 Senior, Staff, Faculty/$10 General and can be purchased in the Performing Arts Box Office or online at http://zaptix.com.
Taylor Greene, composer and Britni Marino, clarinetist are the two students chosen to be featured in this 1st Annual CSUSB Music Concerto/Composition Competition Concert. "Elysian Fields" by Taylor Greene will be given its world premiere by the Symphonic Band and Britni Marino will be the featured soloist in the "Concerto for Clarinet and Military Band" by Rimsky-Korsakov. The Symphonic Band and Chamber Winds will also perform works by Mendelssohn, Hindemith and Kozhevnikov. Those interested in supporting new and upcoming local musicians are encouraged to attend.

CSU SAN BERNARDINO CONCERT SERIES CONTINUES WITH STUDENT SHOWCASE
The California State University, San Bernardino Music Department will feature its own top music students in the final "Music Showcase" concert of the year.
San Bernardino, Ca May 8, 2008 -- Cal State's newest concert series will conclude this year with a student showcase. The concert will take place on Saturday, May 17 at 7:30 p.m. in the Performing Arts Recital Hall on campus.
